Day Five of Bag Giveaway and What the Heck Happened to Day Four??

Remember, Hubby has been off for the week.
And a Week of Spoofin is a whole lot more busy than a Day of Spoofin.
So where is Day Four?
In the annals of our memories.
There were walks with my Sewing Room Assistant and our photographer.....

There was a wonderful visit with this little fuzzy guy and his people,
aka My Eldest Sister and Her Wonderful Husband. They live another state over so it's a bit of a hike, but the time that we spent there was oh so worth the trek. We had a lovely, lovely visit. Snippets of their neighbors, aka my niece and several of her four sons with a brief drop in by the nephew in law.
Could it be that the sweet little niece that came to our family when I was 16, is now 40 and starting to empty her very full nest? Wow.

And then there was the mundane.
Leaves to contend with, both on the ground and in the brand new gutters.
I took this photo of Hubby on the cliff of our roof to enrage our children further about his antics when there is no witnesses or protectors hanging around.
I'm sewing and he quietly, like he does this every day, exits the window and proceeds to use his broken Gutter Getter to roust out the infernal products of our abundant tulip tree.
Evidence, kids....Your Papa is still stubborn as ever.....

Then there was babysitting.
Just a brief spot with the 2G's so their mama could make a doctor visit.
Grant and Mr. Pat read many books and Miss Grace, the brand new walker, listens in. We thought we should all go to McD's when mama got home.
Just more fun. The 2G's mama spelled out F-o-l-l-o-w t-h-a-t b-i-r-d, a secret Christmas gift, to wit, Grant replied with gusto, 'Follow That Bird'! The Big Bird Movie...!!!" Not quite three.....

Day Two of Bag Giveaway Week!

Look at my Sewing Room Assistant!
Just lounging around while I am hard at work.
Have to admit, I've put her through her paces this week..
Going from one project to the next, involving all parts of our home...
And being quite the shadow, I'm sure I've worn her out!
Actually, I wanted to get a photo of the new curtains I put up in the Guest Room upon completion of The Update, but she was lying there on the quilt,looking quite pensive, that I just had to get a pic of it.....
You'll see the curtains later....

Did I mention that Hubby's been off this week?
Yay projects!
On one of my doggy walks, I noticed an old crib kicked to the curb.
For some useful reason, I had this thought while taking my bath...
'Why don't you grab that unuseful as is crib in it's incompleteness, and make a hanging quilt rack out of it??
So after my bath on Sunday night, I announce to Hubby that he need not take off his shoes yet; he needs to go fetch an incomplete crib, on the ground, down the street.
And after all these years, he did not question it a bit.
He just re buttoned his shirt, grabbed his keys and headed out on this crazy mission.
We scoured the hardware store on Monday night, looking for appropriate hardware, only to find what worked in our own garage. Even better.
So, Ta-Da!
All my beloved quilts are now on display!
Huzzah!

Crazy Dee still has me working on her updating projects as well.
She wanted me to recover her couch pillows. And she was very specific.
She wanted them professionally done (as if) and swanky. And free.
What the??
Anyway, I do as I'm told and here is the after and before.
I removed the piping off the old and I think it shall resurface soon....
Her birthday was February 2 and I am still gifting her....
And she thinks I'm difficult, birthday wise.....:D

Day Two Update!!
The Giveaway Bag is shaping up! I took the blog photo before quite a bit of work was done on the bag. Took a dog walk to clear the cobs out of my brain and plan better for it....
VERY excited about how it's coming along....

Day One of Giveaway Week!

Thank all of you that left comments yesterday!
The cogs are turning and the Giveaway Bag is brewing in my mind....

But firstly, I had some other businessy things to take care of before I could treat my mind and hands to the GB!

Below, is a tidy little bag I made for an eleven year old friend.
She is fond of purples and blues and is on the cusp of junior high hood, so I dare not go too sweet, yet not too grownup either.
Found this material on the discount rack and it really screamed for my little friend.
I thought that a bracelet that Baby Girl received, way back in the junior high days, would make a really nice embellishment/weight...And will probably make enough noise and distraction that her fifth grade teacher may have issues with me!
Like the little bag alot.

I've been painting my guest room.
Thanksgiving Company is coming and a bit of sprucing is always in order.
Even if company is my own progeny. Funny how one day your children are home and doing chores, then one day, they are guests; guests that I clean like mad for and cook like the Queen Mother has scheduled a visit. Interesting, huh?
So.
Painting a room sounds so....practical.
I have to make it more interesting by challenging myself to redecorating a bit, but redecorating completely on the cheap (read: no cost). This little old table has wondered around my house and cottage for nearly ten years. Never been updated, just providing a utilitarian need wherever..
Thanks to my blogger friends especially DottieAngel (click on her link on my blog list) I look at my old furniture with an eye to usefulness and fun via paint.
Don't you think Little Table looks happy in this shade of blue? Almost matching the blue in the quilt but with no intention of doing that? LOVE it when that happens!
Anyway.
More pics of the redo as it progressess...Look forward to a discarded, curbside crib becoming a quilt rack.....!!
